The goal of the project was to tell a compelling story while exploring a real-time filmmaking workflow in Unreal Engine 5. The production combined Gaea for landscape creation, PCG for procedural environment building, Niagara for atmospheric effects, and MetaHuman for character creation and animation. Gaea, together with real-world elevation data, was used to create the lake landscape before it was exported into Unreal Engine. The opening landscape was assembled using static meshes, while the cabin was modelled specifically for the project. Procedural Content Generation (PCG) and Megaplants were then used to build and populate the surrounding forest environments. The protagonist was created with MetaHuman and animated through a motion-capture workflow. Niagara systems provided visible breath, snowfall, and additional atmospheric particles, helping the character feel naturally integrated into the environment while reinforcing the severity of the winter setting.
