Super Pixelpunch Intro

Context

The animation of the magical clock was created for the intro of the short film SUPER PIXEL PUNCH!. This student film from FH, directed by Alexander W. Förg, takes place in the reality of a video game. The protagonist is cursed by the magical clock, making him unable to feel pain during his fights - rendering him unbeatable. The clock appears as part of the game’s loading screen. To enhance the magical nature of the clock, I incorporated several fantasy-style particle simulations. The curse manifests through the clock’s self-driven movements. Multiple simulation layers were created using SideFX Houdini, layering different particle effects. The fiery motion of the particles was advected using Pyro Volume Simulation. The clock’s individual parts were animated through a rigid body simulation, which was then played in reverse. Texturing was done using Houdini’s Copernicus.
