GAMEPLAY

WHAT IS POSSESSION?

In Possession you play a demon, haunting a small village during the 1800s. You were sent from Hell to harvest the souls of innocent peasants for your evil master. Sadly, for you, the village has been warned of your coming and they have summoned their most holy force to prevent you from haunting their village. While hiding among the local population, you possess the bodies of innocent villagers and feed on their souls. Rush through the foggy alleys of the moonlit village, find victims, corrupt their minds and stay one step ahead of the Demon Hunters patrolling the streets. Every victim brings you closer to victory, but every mistake brings the Hunters closer to you.

YOUR MISSION

Your objective is to collect enough Soul Points by possessing villagers and feeding on their helpless minds to complete your infernal mission. Each Soul Point brings you closer to victory and winning the game. But be aware. The streets are a dangerous place for your unholy presence. If the Hunters strike fast enough and kill your mortal body, your hunt ends in defeat, and you lose the game.

VILLAGERS

To begin harvesting souls, you must find a lonely villager and possess them. While possessing the victim’s body, you slowly drain their Willpower and as their minds deteriorate, they trigger Willpower Events. These will reward Soul Points, but also make them scream in pain, drawing attention from hunters in nearby areas. When their willpower decreases to zero, you gain their last Soul point and they die. So, it becomes time to find a new victim.

DEMON HUNTERS

The village is protected by an elite force of Paranormal Hunters armed with flashlights and shotguns. They patrol the streets, investigate anomalies, and watch for suspicious behaviour. When a hunter sees you in a possessed Villager, their Suspicion Meter begins to rise. When they identify a possessed villager or spot you as the demon directly, their flashlight turns red and the hunt begins. If they lose sight of you, they transition into a Search, sweeping nearby streets around your last known location. Hunters remember where they saw you and will continue searching long after you disappear around a corner.
Hunters are smarter than they look. When one spots you, he alerts a nearby ally who rushes to help. While one hunter chases, another may attempt to intercept your escape route through the alleys. Keep that in mind when fleeing from their relentless gunfire.
