The project is about the ambivalent nature of power – its allure, its destructive force, but also its potential use for good. The crown serves as a central symbol of power, greed, and responsibility.
Description
The short film "Regnare" was created to show two sides of power – its appeal, instability, and hidden nature – using symbolic visuals.
In a dark, throne room, a bright crown sits on a pedestal while mist sets a mysterious mood. Greedy hands reach out for the crown, but despite their efforts, it slips away and falls into endless darkness. This powerful image represents how power is desired by many yet remains out of reach.
Next, the crown lands on a heap of coins, a symbol of wealth. A tomato is thrown at it to represent a passionate protest, but even this act of resistance does little to change the established order.
Another important scene shows a group of puppets hanging in a shadowy space, with a central king puppet controlling all the strings. Only one puppet reaches for a pair of scissors, showing a missed chance for freedom or change.
Finally, a veiled figure is crowned, and the hidden face emphasizes the impersonal and anonymous nature of power.
The project asks its viewers to think about how power works and challenges them with one simple question: What would you do if you had power?
Poem
So tell me now, what would you do,
If the crown belonged to you?
Would you lead, or would you fall,
Beneath the weight that consumes them all?
