Introduction
Life as a fresh pirate is quite exhilarating!
But Beware! The older captains rub their hands at the sight of fresh fish like you, wanting to destroy competition early on, and hoping for easy coin...
Load and fire the cannons! Sink your enemy’s ship before they can sink yours. If the enemy hits your ship, your cannons will get damaged and eventually break. If you loose all your cannons, it’s off to Davy Jones’s locker for you! But fear not! As long as they’re not completely broken, you can repair the cannons.
And as if cannonballs whizzing toward you wasn’t enough: Boarding-parties are trying to take you out directly! Fend them off and they might drop some loot you could use!
Description
Banana Buccaneer is a 2D arcade-like single player game where you play a little monkey pirate, trying to defend yourself against other pirates.
The goal is to sink the enemy ship by loading and then firing your cannons at the ship.
In the meantime the enemy ship is trying to sink the player ship. When the player ship is hit, one of the three cannons is damaged. Eventually a cannon breaks and is destroyed. When all three cannons are destroyed, the player looses. Damaged cannons can still be loaded and fired, they also can regain hitpoints by repairing them. Destroyed cannons can no longer be repaired, loaded or fired.
Simultaneously enemy pirates enter the player screen from the left and right edges of the screen. These enemies attack and damage the player directly. The player also looses when they are killed.
The player can also attack the enemy pirates with their sword. When an enemy is killed, there is a chance for them to drop an upgrade.
There are three upgrades (also listed in an image below):
- Bananas: Heal the player
- Sword: Briefly* grants great attack boost to player's melee attacks
- Shield: Briefly* grants the player invincibility to enemy pirate melee attacks
*20s with default config
Many gameplay/game-balancing values like player or enemy HP, attack damage... can easily be configured in the config.json file, which is located in the folder {GameLocation}/BananaBuccaneer/config/.
