Eclipsed Souls Estate
The game "Eclipsed Souls Estate" is about a boy who has lost his entire family. Trapped in a labyrinth, he has to find a way out in the middle of the night. The boy only has a small lantern. This can be brightened by points of light scattered around the labyrinth. To escape from the maze, however, a lost key must first be found. Only after finding this key can the door out of the labyrinth be opened. However, along the way he will encounter his dead family members in the form of ghosts who want to bring him to them, so be warned!
Gameplay
The game begins with an appealing menu screen where the player has the option to start the game adventure. As soon as the player decides to do so, they are transported into a dark labyrinth environment. The main character is controlled using the WASD keys, no other keys are required.
The gameplay focuses on collecting power-ups to increase the light field. This will make it easier for him to avoid being caught up by ghosts. Timing and skill are required here. The first stage of the game requires you to find the key you thought was lost in order to be able to open the final door out of the labyrinth later on. This can only be achieved by skilful movement and remembering the paths.
During the game, various means are used to give the player feedback and to increase the atmosphere and enjoyment of the game. Firstly, there is a separate user interface for starting, winning and losing, which displays the current game status. The user interface in the ongoing game shows which next stage goal the player has to reach and whether these have already been achieved. The power-ups also provide direct feedback by increasing the size of the light source. The audio also confirms the collection of power-ups or the key. In addition, the sound serves to warn of approaching ghosts and convey a creepy game atmosphere.
Sound Design
Sounds and music have been added for all elements in the game so that the player can immerse themselves more deeply in the mysterious atmosphere. The sounds also serve to help the player navigate through the maze and increase the enjoyment of the game.
Sounds are used for...
...for the mystical background music
...to warn of the ghosts
...when collecting the key
...when collecting the power-up
...when winning the game
...when losing the game
