1620. Austria. Constantly threatened by the followers of the Witch Hammer, the 20-year-old Carmilla strives to conform to the medieval image of the obedient woman. However, a curse seems to weigh upon her, sparking a conflict between absolution and God’s will. To escape the agonizing death on the pyre, Carmilla decides to confront the House of God and end her life in the light of her Creator. However, the widespread superstition proves to be untrue. When Carmilla seeks refuge in a confessional, she inadvertently becomes entangled in a conversation with a priest who seems to know more about her than she would like.
