Project Aux Cord Music (MMP1)
For my multimedia project I produced two tracks only using the buzzing sound of an aux cord. I did not use any synthesizers or samples. The noise is generated on a mixer by creating a feedback loop with the cord itself. I created various sounds from the recorded buzzing noise, including bassline, different synths, kick, snare, hi-hat, and other tones. Since the buzzing was very low, I had to pitch up the recorded sample for higher tones, such as a lead synth. This is why I recorded the sound for about 60 seconds. For the kick drum, I low-cut the low frequencies of the sample to get a clean low-end. To create the kick transient, I heavily distorted the buzzing sample and made it as punchy as possible using a transient shaper. For the snare and hi-hat, I did something similar to the kick transient, but I also added reverb and shortened it with a gate. Afterward, I low-cut the snare. For the hi-hat, I used a shorter release time and different equalizer settings. For the synths, I added distortion to create additional harmonics. Then, I used plugins like phaser, chorus, reverb, and equalizer. For additional effects, I used plugins such as Izotope Stutter. The genres of my tracks are Tekstyle (Techno and Jumpstyle) and Chillwave.
