Generative Design

The integration of AI into the design process will fundamentally change the way designs are created. In this paper, the possible impacts, changes, and the strengths and weaknesses of the design process involving AI are discussed. The work is a snapshot of the possibilities of AI in design and showcases how AI can change the design process. The rapid development of AI in design presents significant challenges to the profession of the designer. With increasingly powerful AI, computers are capable of calculating more complex relationships and developing ever-better designs. While it may seem that AI could overtake humans in capabilities, this paper discusses how, in reality, it will impact the profession and how the role of the designer will need to be redefined. On the other hand, with the rise of these new technologies, new design possibilities are also emerging. Products can be optimized, become more complex, and individualized. A practical example showcased in this paper provides a better understanding of how artificial intelligence affects the design process. The results of the analysis illustrate that designers won‘t necessarily be replaced by AIs in the future. On the contrary, incorporating AI into the design process will help designers to work more creatively and visionarily. It is certain that, with the continued exponential development and widespread use of artificial intelligence, this tool will become increasingly feasible and ultimately necessary.
