Modular and Sustainable Coffin for a New Generation

Moser Holzindustrie from Lungau is Austria's biggest producer of coffins. With over 80.000 units a year, the company provides a product, that "everybody needs, but nobody wants". Due to the 60th anniversary of Moser Holzindustrie they teamed up with DPM to create a vision of a coffin's future. One of the results was named Levitá and was designed according to the current generation's needs and desires. Its construction is modular, providing CNC milled corners that can be adopted to the linear side panels. The coffin's lid is upholstered with a material called Organoid, which consists of various pressed flower blossoms, hay or other plants. It is manufactured in the provence of Tyrol and along with the other elements entirely sustainable, so the obligatory bio-degradability is secured.
