xxxx Project Brain-Damaged Toy Car Rally
BDTCR is a top-down racing game for up to four competitors. The goal is to finish as many rounds and stay alive as long as possible. Gameplay For every collision the player loses a part of the brain (equal to health), dependent on the cars speed, and gets a short timeout, so the car can’t be controlled for a moment. Players collect points for finishing a round, dependent on their numbered position in the race (first gets 1000, second gets 500,...). As soon as one player has lost the whole brain, the remaining players get a thousand points. Players without a brain can still play as ghost driver and sabotage others, with only the disadvantage of not gaining anymore points. The player with most points wins of course. Game Components Cars and brains - every player controls a car and has a brain. Trees, rocks and boundary - for every collision with static objects, the player gets a certain brain damage. Tires, barrels and cones - when a player collides with dynamic objects, the objects get an impulse and are dashed away. Booster areas - when a car drives over a booster area, it gains a little bit of speed, for a short moment. Goal and checkpoints - there are some hidden checkpoints, that have to be passed in the right order, so the players can’t cheat. Controls BDTCR cars are controlled with PlayStation 4 controllers. The controls are shown in the image below. Background BDTCR is a student project at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg.
