Hi, I'm Harald! I'm actually quite the hacker! My passion is dealing with servers and databases so you don't have to. As you can see from my image, I'm quite a hipster and I really love retro stuff. So let's travel back to the year 1992 where the HTML the Markup Language of the Internet was born. Back in the days we had to struggle with setting up web servers and only real nerds like me have been able to upload or visit web pages. In those early days creating web pages really felt like a breeze. Just open your favorite text editor (mine is VIM by the way), write some text, add some markup and you're almost done. In 1994 Apache, one of the most popular Webservers until today rose. Apache gave us a solid web server which made it easy to get stuff on the internet. Until those days the internet walked a long way to the internet we know nowadays. CMS Systems popped up which made it possible for almost everyone to create content and publish it on the internet. Most of these systems rely on Server Runtimes and on a storage system, like Databases. The flexibility of having an own CMS installed on a web server comes with a great risk. With a runtime like PHP, a storage system like MySQL and a CMS like Wordpress we added at least three additional dependencies which require updates. If one of those dependencies have a vulnerability your web server could either be offline or some sensitive data can be stolen. As I told you before I really love to think about the good ol' times. So I thought about how we can have the security and speed of plain old HTML Pages and also have the flexibility of a modern CMS System. I came across Static Site Generators which are awesome but only accessible for nerds like me. So I built a PAAS which combine the advantages of a static site generator and a CMS System. It's called harald-deploy.it (I'm not from Italy, but they have a darn good TLD). If you're a hipster like me and love static sites check out harald.
