For several years the history of the recording studio did go in line with the development of sound careers. But due to the digital revolution of the distribution and recording technology in the field of recorded music (democratization in the means of production) their processes have separated constantly. The development of the record has always contributed to the development of recording technology. But the music industry, which served as the driving force behind this development, is in deep crisis, leading to changes for the entire music industry. This master thesis explains the causes of these developments from a historical and technical perspective. A constant in the studio acoustics is defined and new survival strategies for the recording studio after the digital revolution are developed. It is therefore essential to consider both the new market and all different distribution channels.
